Post-remediation verification gives the building owner or occupier an independent record after mould treatment. We inspect whether the agreed environmental scope has been completed, check for residual moisture or visible contamination and select surface or air samples where they are appropriate to the clearance question. Because Green Air Monitoring is independent of the remediation contractor, the verification report is separated from the company that carried out the work.

Agreeing acceptance evidence before the visit
Good verification begins with a defined remediation scope and completion criteria. We review the original investigation, affected-area plan, contractor records, photographs, material removals, source repairs and any pre-remediation sampling. The client identifies the spaces and interfaces requiring examination. Where no earlier baseline exists, we agree suitable background or comparison locations and explain the reduced strength of retrospective comparison.
Readiness for independent inspection
The remediation and detailed cleaning should be complete, removed materials cleared and treated areas accessible. The moisture source should have been repaired or controlled, with sufficient drying evidence available. Encapsulation, reinstatement or decoration before verification can hide surfaces that need inspection, so sequencing matters. We confirm the intended building operating state because ventilation, temporary filtration and ongoing construction can affect airborne results.
Visual and moisture checks
Inspection looks for residual visible growth, dust, debris, staining context, incomplete material removal and cleanliness at edges, ledges, cavities and containment interfaces that are accessible. Moisture readings are compared with suitable materials or background areas, taking construction and recent drying into account. Temperature and relative humidity may support the condition record. A visually clean surface is important, but it is considered alongside source control and moisture evidence.
When surface or air sampling is appropriate
Surface samples can examine a retained or cleaned material where visual evidence is uncertain or an agreed criterion requires it. Air sampling may compare the treated zone with outdoors, an unaffected area or pre-remediation results under documented conditions. The selection depends on the original problem and work method. Routine sampling without a comparison plan can produce data that appears precise but does not answer whether the specified remediation succeeded.
Comparing like with like
Pre- and post-remediation results are most useful when methods, locations and building conditions are comparable. We record ventilation state, occupancy, weather context, cleaning activity and other works that could influence findings. Microbial profiles are assessed for pattern and composition rather than reduced to one universal pass value. Differences in method or context are stated so the client can see how much weight the comparison carries.
Verification outcome and outstanding actions
The report states whether the inspected evidence supports completion against the agreed criteria, identifies qualifications and lists any residual actions. An unsuccessful area is mapped so the contractor can address the specific issue before a focused return visit. A satisfactory result is a verification report, not a certificate, and applies to the agreed accessible areas at the time examined. Future water ingress or condensation can create a new condition.
