What we inspect
We inspect each accessible section of the unit.
- Outdoor-air intake and louvres
- Filter sections: fit, condition, bypass and loading
- Heating and cooling coils: surface condition and fouling
- Condensate drain trays and traps: standing water, blockage and biological growth
- Humidifier sections, where fitted
- Fan chambers and internal surfaces: deposits, corrosion and debris
- Attenuators and plenums
- Access doors, seals and ease of inspection
How an AHU inspection works
Review
We review asset information, maintenance records and filter-change history.
Access
We agree isolation and access with your maintenance team; units are isolated by your team or contractor before we inspect.
Inspect
We inspect and photograph each section and, where appropriate, carry out surface deposit testing on suitable internal surfaces.
Report
We rate the condition of each component and prioritise the actions needed.
Where it fits with TR19
TR19® Air includes air-handling units within the ventilation system it covers. An AHU inspection can be carried out on its own or as part of a full TR19 assessment of the connected ductwork.
Independent assessment
Limitations and what this assessment cannot tell you
- It is a hygiene and condition inspection, not a test of fan, coil or airflow performance
- Only sections that can be safely isolated and accessed are inspected
- It does not by itself identify specific micro-organisms; microbial sampling can be added where needed
- Mechanical or control faults are referred to your HVAC contractor
